Santa Fe Historical Railway Museum
Step back in time and experience the wonder of rail travel at the Santa Fe Historical Railway Museum. Discover how railroad companies, like the iconic Santa Fe, paved the way for settlement and commerce in this historic region.
Located in the Santa Fe Depot building in downtown Amarillo, guests will be transported to a bygone era as they explore interactive displays and exhibits that showcase the rich history of rail travel in the Texas Panhandle. The active tracks right outside provide the perfect backdrop for an immersive experience that will make you feel like you are stepping aboard a train in the early 20th century.
From the first-floor common areas to the offices above the baggage area, every corner of the museum is thoughtfully curated with artifacts and exhibits that will transport you to the early 1930s. You’ll learn about the people who worked and lived in the Panhandle during this time, including Santa Fe employees, travelers, bankers, business people, ranchers, and farmers.
But we’re not stopping there – we want you to be a part of this experience too. We’re looking for any information, stories, or photographs to help us build detailed profiles of the people who lived and worked at the Depot building and shaped the history of rail travel in the Texas Panhandle.
